- Act 2 Scene 2
-
- (Enter Othello's Herald reading a proclamation)
- l1l Herald It is OthelloÆs pleasureùour noble and valiant
- l2l generalùthat, upon certain tidings now arrived
- l3l importing the mere perdition of the Turkish fleet, every
- l4l man put himself into triumph: some to dance, some to
- l5l make bonfires, each man to what sport and revels his
- l6l addiction leads him; for besides these beneficial news,
- l7l it is the celebration of his nuptial. So much was his
- l8l pleasure should be proclaimed. All offices are open, and
- l9l there is full liberty of feasting from this present hour
- l10l of five till the bell have told eleven. Heaven bless the
- l11l isle of Cyprus and our noble general, Othello!
